I thought writing a book would be like this: coffee, candy, jazz music in the background, and a bird chirping at my window. Ya, not so much.
Ok so here is the thing: I don't like being told what to do!
I like things to be on my terms.
I like to write, but I like to write when I like to.
Do you see what I am getting at?
Ebooks are awesome. I am talking specifically Kindle (Amazon) and for me this means KDP Select.
So for all of you authors out there, listen up! (Or like me, maybe you don't think of yourself as a "writer" but as someone who writes and therefore you are not yet a real author). T
hat's ok, just listen.
How Do You Publish An ebook?
I wrote a book.
Well, a few actually.
I bought a nice pre-made cover from James @ Go On Write .
My husband showed me how to format with Vellum (really worth the money), and then I uploaded my manuscript to KDP.
I put in keywords, set up a free promotion that is offered ( I chose three days for free).
And I also decided to go with some Amazon marketing.
I have invested some money, I have listened to Podcasts and tried to come up with a marketing strategy. I filled out my author's page for amazon .
Seems like a lot, but this is just the beginning. I have to do some serious promoting.
What are the steps you should take when publishing an ebook?
Ok so here are the steps I am taking and maybe it will help you:
I am NOT AN EXPERT!
I am a newbie and anything that I learn, I will share here with you!
I hope you will find it helpful.
And even if you don't think so, maybe someone else will, so share it.
